The current reasearch paper sheds light on the use of ambiguity in the field of diplomacy.

first it deals with the characteristics of the language used in diplomatic discourse, considering language as the essence of diplomacy.

then it defines ambiguity as a mere linguistic phenomenon, before linking it to the diplomatic field, underlining the reasons and objectives of its use.

it also gives examples from international agreements, and deals with ambiguity levels briefly.

finally, it links diplomatic ambiguity to translation, highlighting the challenges they present to the translator, and attempts to find out the strategies employed to deal with them.
