Abstract EN

The title of this study is “the doctrine of the Kharijites regarding those who commit major sins : an analytical creedal study”.

it was disposed by collecting the doctrines of the Kharijite sects regarding those who commit major sins and studying these doctrines from a creedal point of view.

it is well known that the Kharijites excommunicate those who commit major sins.

however, it has appeared things that make this well-known fact problematic, because the Kharijites have been quoted to say things that goes against this position.

this matter necessitated writing this research, to remove this confusion.

that was made by combining the narrations reported from the Kharijites about this issue, or directing these narrations, if possible, or by giving preference when it is not possible, according to the scientific method followed.

the research included the answer to some recent claims made by some contemporary researchers, that excommunication for committing major sins was not known by the first Kharijites.

that is, that they did not excommunicate someone for drinking alcohol, fornication and the like, rather they only excommunicated people because of the arbitration.

based on this, they claimed that the first people who were known to excommunicate people committing major sins were the Azariqa, followers of Nafi’ ibn al-Azraq.

they claimed in that way that this was not made by the first Kharijites, the followers of Abdullah Bin Wahb Ar-Rasibi, and those with him or those Kharijites that came after him.

in that way it was necessary to answer that, in an appropriate way.
