Recognizing the parliamentary opposition and granting it effective constitutional status is a fundamental pillar of any democratic state based on the values of participation in the management of public affairs, the diversity and plurality of political opinions and the balance of powers.

The Algerian constituent has recognized the parliamentary opposition under the 2016 constitutional amendment and granted it a block of rights aimed at activating and strengthening its role within the parliamentary campus in a way that makes it a real counter- power by parliamentary majority, the same approach was followed by the constitutional amendment of 2020 with some procedural improvements to the constitutional status of this institution.

The study deals with the place that the Algerian constitution has given, in particular through its last amendment of 2020, to the parliamentary opposition, this according to a general objective which questions the sufficiency of this place to make the opposition parliamentary a real counterweight to the majority and to the government.
