The research deals with the objective problems of criminal analysis represented in its concept, i.

e.

in terms of its definition, functions, types, stages and applications, as a critical study, ending with an evaluation of criminal analysis in terms of effectiveness despite all these problems.

The research was divided into four sections, the first section dealt with the disturbance in the definition and functions of criminal analysis, while the second topic dealt with the turbulence in determining the types of criminal analysis.

The third topic was devoted to the study of the stages of criminal analysis, and the research ended with a fourth topic that dealt with a study of applied models, followed by an evaluation of criminal analysis and its effectiveness.

We have found through research that the criminal analysis has received an exaggerated evaluation by researchers, and that it needs more realistic evaluation so that its tools can be developed.

The research also concluded with the necessity of developing crime analysis units, and proposing the establishment of coordination units between the police and criminal analysts in order to address the disturbance in the relationship between them.

The research adopted the descriptive analytical method in the text, and the Chicago method in reference documentation.
