Ever since its origination, the Arabic theatre was marked by the utilization of the historical material; whereby the concealment of political goals seemed to be an easy task for Arab playwrights.

indeed, this was the case for the colorful playwright “Azzedine el madam” in his play “the battle of the man on the donkey”, a work of art quite packed with aesthetic issues on revolution and history.

in this piece of art, the playwright granted these aesthetic dimensions a given essence which aimed at establishing awareness and developing artistic taste by stirring the Arab mind’s thought and concerns.

this research paper seeks to spot light on the aesthetic employment of history and revolution as brought to the surface by the playwright Azzedine el Madani in his play “the battle of the man on the donkey” and elucidating how the aesthetic dimensions are exemplified in this theatrical discourse.
