This study aimed to identify the reality of women’s political participation in Iran and the extent of Iranian women’s political participation in government institutions, especially in the presidential elections and the Shura Council.

This study analyzes the obstacles and challenges faced by Iranian women and negatively affected their political participation.

The researcher used the descriptive approach, and the study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: Early changes occurred in favor of women during the reign of the Shah.

This is due to Iran’s integration into global capitalism and the modernization processes that Iranian society was exposed to, but these processes were heterogeneous and the positive developments that occurred eroded due to government policies.
