This study aims to show the image of "woman" in orientalist paintings in order to form a clear picture of orientalist painting to understand both the reasons of the false representation of the harem(woman), and the causes which lead to the use of orientalist artist in colonial projects through artistic achievement.

trying to avoid the stereotypical image reached by orientalist paintings in most of its subjects, to the fascination with the east, its strangeness and charm.

without mentioning non-aesthetic considerations that serves the economic and political interests of the colonizer.

since all what was represented is only a western invention to re-construct the other through a perception and interest and as part of the plans used to justify colonialism.
