We try in this present study to translate an article written by a great scholar, a Sufi and Akbarian heritage expert who interested in his representative figure and thoughts in the 19 century (Emir Abd el Kader).

Eric Joffrey built his article on the axes of metaphysics and modernity, and how Emir Abd el Kader received the invention of photographic camera at his time? on the contrary to other scholars in the Islamic era who opposed and prohibited all aspects of photography, so that Abd el Kader placed the photography in the same case with mirror, and gave it its symbolic notion as a theophany, thus, pictures and portraits will be a good support of contemplation: images of truth on one hand, illusion and imagination on the other hand, it’s a message of an insightful scientist who predicted the role of image in the contemporary world.
