The current study aims to define the concept of Algerian identity and its manifestations in Algerian and orientalist plastic arts, during the French occupation, the historical era in which the national identity was obliterated.

meanwhile, a group of intellectual artists have emerged, and defended the Algerian identity and its components, through their artworks, among them we mention the Algerian artists: Mohamed Racim and Mohammed Khadda, and the Muslim oriental French artist Nasreddine Dinet.
