The land borders that separate the territory of the state and the other neighboring state, and the maritime borders are those that separate the territorial sea of the state and the territorial sea of a state or other neighboring countries, and the air borders that separate the air territory of the state and above this.

The region is made of space and separates the state's territory from the air regions adjacent to the neighboring countries, and international law scholars have worked on studying the maritime borders within the law of the sea, the air borders within the space law, and the land borders within the general international law.

Thus, we can say that borders are an essential component of the state's components so the state's territory must be defined by boundaries that the state can exercise its authority and jurisdiction over people and things within this territory.

The boundary is where the sovereignty of a state ends and the sovereignty of another state begins.
