Abstract EN

The research has aimed to recognize the effect of using Beyer strategy in teaching history on developing critical thinking skills for secondary school students.

the experimental approach based on the design of two control and experimental groups was used with a pre and post application of the research tools represented in (testing critical thinking skills).

to test the validity of the hypotheses and answer the research questions ‚ the research sample consisted of a sample of first-grade students for the second term 2020/2021.

and the research was applied to a sample of first-grade secondary students at al-Baraniya secondary school in Ashmoun educational administration consisting of (60) students.

the results of the research found that there was a statistically significant difference on the level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the posttest as a whole and each skill in favor of the experimental group, there was a statistically significant difference on the level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the pre- and post-test as a whole and each skill in favor of the posttest, which indicates the effect of using Beyer strategy in teaching history on developing critical thinking skills for first-grade students of the secondary school.

that is why, the research recommends the necessity of using Beyer strategy in teaching social studies in general and specially for teaching history.
