Imam Al Shatibi tried to link the term illiteracy of sharia and understanding the Qur’anic text and built the issue on the continuity of illiteracy of sharia on the Arab's schools ,so he formulated a special concept which he called Ma’houd al-Umyyeen and he wanted to reach intentional rules governing the understanding of the Qur’anic text, and it is well known that the understanding of the Holy Qur’an is based primarily on knowledge of the Arabic language at all levels, and it represents the cornerstone of that, but there are other things outside the context of the rules upon which Arab tradition in speech was based on, which must be taken into account in the process of understanding and inference, and the latter may be renewed by the renewal of time, so how did Al Shatibi come up with the term Ma’houd al-Umyyeen? How did he formulate his evidence? How did he use it to understand the Holy Qur’an? This is what this paper seeks to answer.
