The research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using the Merrille and Tennyson model in teaching rhetorical for the first secondary graders in developing deep understanding rhetorical concepts and positive thinking skills, the research used the educational experimental methods as it adopted one of the experimental designs، namely، the one –Group pre test-post test design to carry out the experiment of the research، these instruments were used: the positive thinking scale، and deep understanding test the instruments were administered to the participations before the treatment، then rhetorical topics were taught by using the Merrille and Tennyson model، then the post application of the instruments after the treatment، the results indicated the effectiveness of using the Merrille and Tennyson model in developing positive thinking skills and deep understanding of rhetorical concepts، the research presented a set of recommendations and suggested research.
