Abstract EN

The current piece of research aimed at studying the experiences of Finland and the Netherlands related to funding general senior secondary schools.

It analyzed the quantitative indicators of enrollment and graduation from general secondary schools in Finland and The Netherlands during the period from 2010 to 2020.

In addition, the current piece of research investigated the share of educational budget in proportion to the state’s general budget in Finland and The Netherlands, the per-student expenditure at the general senior secondary schools, the current expenditure and the capital expenditure, the per-student expenditure at the general senior secondary schools and the per student expenditure at the general lower secondary schools in Finland and The Netherlands during the period from 2010 to 2020.

After analyzing the sources of school funding in these two European countries, the researcher presented some important lessons that Egyptian policy-makers can benefit from via analyzing the experiences of Finland and The Netherlands.

The current piece of research ended with formulating a number of mechanisms that Egypt can utilize in reforming the funding of her general senior secondary schools in the light of the experiences of Finland and The Netherlands.
