Abstract EN

The current study aimed to improve fine motor skills in Mentally Handicapped Children.

The study sample consisted of (12) Trainable Mentally Handicapped Children, whose ages ranged between (5 - 12) years and their IQ ranged between (40- 51) degree according to the Stanford- Binet scale, fifth edition (Abd-al Mawgoud Abd-al Samie, 2017), who got the lowest score on the fine motor skills Scale, in Ebdaa center at Diarb Negm center in Mubashir village in Sharqia.

The study tools consisted of: Stanford- Binet scale fifth edition, and an Arabic version of the fine motor skills scale (Umarani, 2016), , and a program based on Group Play (by The Researcher).

Results of the study found that there were statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the experimental group and the control group in the post- test on the fine motor skills scale in favor of the experimental group.

There were statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental group in the pre and post tests on the fine motor skills scale in favor of the post- test and there were no statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental group in the post and follow – up tests on the fine motor skills scale.

These results indicate a significant effect of the group Play program in improving fine motor skills in the experimental group.

The researcher recommends the need for early intervention by parents for improving fine motor skills of their children, which helps children to be self-reliant in meeting their needs.
