The aim of the research is to: To reveal the effectiveness of each of the strategies (fishbowl) and (Jigsaw) in the cognitive achievement of third year students in the subject of teaching methods and the development of their mental abilities, and to explain the differential between each of the strategies (fishbowl) and (Jigsaw) In the cognitive achievement of third-year students in the subject of teaching methods and the development of their mental abilities.

The researcher adopted the experimental method for its compatibility with the rationale for the research problem and its sample.

The research community was deliberately chosen from the third year students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences / University of Kirkuk for the academic year (2017-2018) and their number (169) consisted of (114) students and (55) A student, as it was not possible to apply the research experience to the same community at the University of Mosul to which the researcher belongs, due to the presence of research experiences for masters students.

The research sample was selected by random ballot, reaching (50) male and female students, at a rate of (25) for each of the two experimental research groups, the first of which was taught according to the (Fishbowl strategy), while the (Jigsaw strategy) was applied to the second.

The researcher used the statistical bag spss in completing and processing the data, and concluded that the strategies (Fishbowl) and (Jigsaw) were effective in improving the cognitive achievement of the third year students and developing their mental abilities, and that there is a convergence between the strategies (Fishbowl and Jigsaw) in their effectiveness towards the progress Third year students in cognitive achievement.

It also concluded that the (Jigsaw) strategy favors the (Fishbowl) strategy in developing the mental capabilities of third year students.

The results of the post-tests confirmed the progress of each of the two groups of research in the post-tests of cognitive achievement, while the second experimental group prevailed over its counterpart in the post-tests of mental abilities, indicating the effectiveness of the two strategies in achievement and the preference of (Jigsaw strategy) in developing mental abilities.

It recommended the necessity of engaging students more effectively in the educational process by using cooperative learning strategies centered on the student and choosing the best ones to improve both the cognitive achievement and the mental abilities of students.
