Abstract EN

This study investigates the truthfulness or accuracy of the two termsMadrasah" school" and Mathhab" approach" which were used to describe thesyntactic activities appeared in different places in the Arab world such as AL-Basrahand A-kufah.

The researcher found out that Ashaab Al-Tabagat, the biographerswho wrote about the Arabic grammarians, were not interested in classifying theminto schools.

They just attributed those grammarians to their countries and places.

The terms Madrasah" school" and Mathhab" approach"" were not mentioned inthese biographies to mean a syntactic theory that belongs to a particular syntacticschool.

The late biographers mentioned the term "Madrasah" school" to mean"the place in which learning takes place" and this meaning is not relative to theclassification of the syntactic schools.

They also mentioned the term Mathhab"approach" to refer to the grammarians' views and differences regarding minorsecondary syntactic issues, and this meaning falls short to the methodological andtheoretical differences that occurs between the real syntactic schools.

Finally theresearcher tackled the differences mentioned by Al-Anbari.

He found out that thesedifferences cannot be regarded as Syntactic School differences between the twogroups.
