Abstract EN

This research deals with the title of the son (deputy/vice) of the king in Kush in the era of the Third Intermediate Period (21th-25th Dynasties).

This title, which was common in New Kingdom until the end of the twentieth dynasty, carried clear political and functional connotations in this period, indicating the control of Egypt over the Kush region.

However, with the begining of Third Intermediate Period, the change of political conditions and internal weakness, and Egypt’s loss of its military and political influence outside its borders, this title diminished and appears rarely in textual sources (during the 21th and Libyan dynasties).

This article aims to study of the holders of this title, men and women in the era of the Third Intermediate Period, the other titles accompanying this title, the social status of its holders, the relations that bind them to the royal families, and the political implications of this title in this period, and whether this title remained active or lost its influence and turned into an honorary title.
