Abstract EN

This research, entitled “The Semantic Significance of the Word “Ata” in the light of the Quranic Context”, aims at presenting the polysemy of the word as it occurs in different forms and in different contexts in the verses of the Holy Qur’an.

It highlights the importance of context in the Holy Qur’an in identifying the different types of meanings of a Quranic word.

This paper concludes by specifying the major role of context according to Muslim scholars.

It also identifies the Muslim scholars who were interested in interpreting meanings in relation to context in the holy Qur’an.

Additionally, once the context is proved to be in line with other factors like occasion of revelation and the explanation provided by the prophet’s companions, it will be used as the main tool for identifying the significance of the Qur’anic word and its meaning.
