Abstract EN

This paper discusses the concepts of ‘cash waqf’, ‘collective waqf’ and ‘self-dedicated waqf’ from the perspective of lived reality, legislations, place of modern paper money compared to currencies used in old times in Islamic Jurisprudence.

It grounds the validity of these types of waqf in authentic Islamic sources in Islamic Jurisprudence together with legal proofs, rational explanations and discussions.

Furthermore, it offers a form of waqf which is innovative in that it combines these three types and creative in the method of financing the waqf as well as the method by which the waqf beneficiaries benefit from it.

It takes the form of waqf of an ongoing monthly subscription or membership for an indefinite period.

It is meant for the subscribers themselves to give loans to finance the waqf for the purpose of getting married.

This research adopted the inductive, analytical and extrapolative method, and arrived at several conclusions, the most important of which are: cash waqf for lending, collective waqf and self-dedicated waqf are all valid types of waqf according to the preferred and preponderant view among Muslim scholars.
