This research, titled: "Weight-control drugs in the balance between medicine and jurisprudence" is an important topic.

It is a contemporary issue that needs comprehensive and careful study.

It examines details on these drugs from a medical point of view, especially the concepts, types, and opinions of medical doctors, and then it specifies Sharia ruling on it in Islamic jurisprudence.

The study is based on a composite approach combining the inductive, descriptive, analytical, and comparative methods, and it concludes with Sharia ruling on taking these medicines according to the following details: first, if the rate of damage resulting from the use of weight-control drugs is higher than the rate of benefit, Sharia ruling ranges between prohibition and abhorrence depending on the level of damage in relation to the level of benefit.

Second, if the rate of damage resulting from the use of weight-control drugs is less than the rate of benefit, Sharia ruling ranges between the obligation and inclination according to the patient's health and his need for these drugs.
