This study seeks to explore the relationship between the determinants of vocational choice and psychological adjustment among Jordan customs employees on the one hand, and how each determinant relates to gender, educational qualification and years of experience variables on the other.

study population include the entire employees of Jordan customs department who joined JC during the first semester of the academic year 2017/2018, while study sample consists of (n=264) employees, selected using the convenience stratified sampling method.

in order to achieve study objectives and answer its questions, two scales have been developed to detect vocational choice determinants and psychological adjustment.

the study also follows the descriptive-correlative approach, which requires collection of data, examination of the phenomenon of interest, in its natural real-life context, exploration of the relationships connecting study variables to find the extent of correlation among them, and express the same in numeric form.

study findings were as follows :•paragraph-based arithmetical averages for the vocational choice scale and its subdimensions were average.•the arithmetical averages scored through the psychological adjustment scale and its sub-dimensions were low to average.•statistically significant differences were found )α = 0.05( in JC employees’ years of experience variable; in favor of employees with +10 years of service at JC.•statistically significant differences were found )α = 0.05( as regards gender, educational qualification and years of experience among JC employees, with preference given to males and bachelor’s degree holders with 5 to less than 10 years of experience.•correlation was absent between vocational choice and psychological adjustment in JC employees.

in light of the study findings and results, the researchers recommends conducting further studies on vocational choice and psychological adjustment among JC employees, based on other variables and new samples.
