This study aims to analyze the content of the math textbooks for the intermediate stage in Iraq within the framework of the American national standards for the teachers of math, through identifying the availability degree of the standards of the mathematical connection, representation and communication in both math textbooks of the first and third intermediate classes.

in this study, the researchers developed the instrument includinganalysis checklist of math content textbooks.

the analysis depends on the processes standards stated in the document of the American national standards for teachers of mathematics (NCTM 2000).

the reliability and validity of the instrument content of the tool were verified.

the results of analyzing the content of the math textbooks for the first and third intermediate classes showed the following : the standard of mathematical connection of the first intermediate classes was the first(with an average degree), the standard of mathematical communication was the second (with a rare degree), while the standard of mathematical representation was third (with a rare degree).

for the third intermediate class, the standard of mathematical communication was the first with an average degree.

the standard of mathematical connection was the second with a rare degree, whereas the standard of mathematical representation was the third with a rare degree.

the results also showed that there is a variation in the availability degree of substandards and features of the criteria of the standards of mathematical connection, representation and communication in the content of the two math textbooks.

moreover, the results showed that the standard of mathematical connection in the intermediate math textbooks was available in the first class with an averageexceeding the third class.

while the standards of representation and communication in the intermediate math textbooks wereavailable in the third class and exceeded the first class.
