Realism is one of the intellectual and political terms introduced by literary criticism in the study of modern literature, and it has often been associated with different or conflicting intellectual tendencies.

it has had a long history of fluctuations, prominence or atrophy, according to the different periods of time that have passed, which is what this research sought to monitor and stand at its most prominent points in this brief study.
