Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the level of bullying behavior among high school Jordanian students in the public schools of the Directorate of Education of Sahab, according to the variables of gender, academic level, academic branch, and academic achievement level.

The study sample consisted of (387) male and female students who were randomly chosen from public schools of Sahab.

This research was applied during the first semester of the academic year (2019/2020).

To achieve the goals of the study, the researcher developed a tool (scale) to measure bullying behavior.

The validity and reliability of the scale were verified.

According to the results of the study; The sample showed a moderate level of bullying behavior on the developed scale.

Further, the results indicated the presence of statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in favor of males in physical, verbal and social bullying and the overall indicator of bullying.

However, the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences on the variable of the academic level at each of: verbal bullying, social bullying, property onbullying, and the overall indicator of bullying.

In addition, the results showed statistically significant differences according to the variable of academic branches in favor of the literature branch.

The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences in the overall indicator of bullying, according to the academic achievement variable in favor of the lower achievement level.

The paper also included a set of recommendations; the most important of which is for the Ministry of Education to adopt programs that include purposeful activities that limit bullying behavior, while direct students of all age categories towards creativity and innovation.
