Abstract EN

The main objective of this research is to highlight the traditional banks and how they could be transformed into Islamic banks.

In the first chapter, the research displays the concepts of traditional and Islamic banking.

Then, it tackles the approach of transformation from traditional into Islamic banks.

In the second chapter, the research discusses the transformation of The Kuwaiti Mortgage Bank into the Kuwait International Bank.

The chapter also includes the basic data of the bank, the practical procedures of transformation, the terms and conditions as well as the rules of transforming traditional banks as issued by The Central Bank of Kuwait.

The third chapter handles the jurisprudential and legal evaluation of the relationship in between the transformed bank, the founders and the stockholders.

The researcher applies the inductive approach through which the researcher has investigated the academic material related to this topic across the books of Islamic economy with specific reference to the case of Kuwait.

By the end of the research, the researcher has drawn attention to the most outstanding findings.

For instance, complete transformation in all indicators of financial liquidity, profitability and activity lead to selective improvement of the bank which is the best and efficient of all working operations.

Another finding is that the traditional banks which have been partially transformed should make use of the experience of the banks that have been totally transformed.

Finally, the research recommends that the traditional banks which have been partially transformed should gradually benefit from the ones that have been totally transformed into Islamic banks.
