Abstract EN
This study aimed to identify the fact of family participation in vocational rehabilitation programs for people with intellectual disabilities from parent's perspectives in the city of Makkah.
The researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach, whereby a questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data, and the study sample consisted of a chosen randomly (103) parents in public education schools attached to programs of intellectual disability, intellectual education institutes, and special education centers in the city of Makkah.
The results of the study indicated that the level of the fact of family participation in vocational rehabilitation programs for people with intellectual disabilities from the parents' perspectives came to a high degree, it came first after the benefits of family participation with a high degree, and came after the role of teachers in activating family participation in the second rank with a high degree, and came after the role of teachers in activating family participation in the second rank with a high degree.
it came after the family's expectations in the third place with a high degree and came after the challenges in the rank and the last place with a medium degree.
The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) attributable to the effect of gender in all dimensions, except for the benefits of family participation dimension and in favor of females.
The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to the effect of the age and educational qualification variables in all dimensions and the overall degree.
The results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences due to the impact of the economic situation in the two dimensions (the role of teachers in activating family participation, challenges of family participation, and the total degree), while there were differences in the impact of the economic situation in the dimension of the benefits of family participation in favor of a (high) level, and the dimension of expectations.
In the family, the expectations dimension came in favor of (medium) level.
