Abstract EN

The phenomenon of intellectual intimidation and persecution of scholars was one of the negative and dangerous phenomena of the Mamluk era, A large group of scholars of that era were exposed to that policy by the ruling authority, For political, religious, economic and personal reasons, The policy of the Mamluks was aimed at politicizing thought and gaining scholars 'fatwas to serve their personal interests and political approach at the time.

Although the relationship between the ruling authority and scholars in the Mamluk era was characterized by friendliness and respect for most of the times, This is because the authority is keen on getting closer to the scholars so that their state is a place of trust and acceptance by private and public, However, that relationship often showed tension and disagreements as a result of the positions of some scholars contrary to the approach of those in power and their wrong and illegal behavior.

These scholars faced all kinds of intellectual intimidation and physical persecution from the authority.

Including threats, beating, imprisonment, abuse, exclusion, exile, and others, Many of them paid with their lives to uphold the truth, end oppression, and return grievances to its people.

This study deals with three main axes in which the authority found its motives for practicing intellectual intimidation and persecution of scholars in that era, which is related to the scholars' position on the administrative and financial corruption, internal conflicts between Mamluk princes, and ideological and intellectual deviations
