Abstract EN

The research paper aims to attempt to identify the roles of political parties in Egyptian society between change and continuity, from the beginning of the origination of parties until now, as the role may differs from one historical stage to another according to the societal context and the outcomes of the political system.

One of the most important features of the role is that it is variable and has proportional stability, thus it supports the idea of the emergence of new roles for parties, from one time stage to another.

For this, the paper used a method: Socio-historical analysis of historical data and related literature, and the paper was divided into several elements according to the historical stages.

The paper revealed that the beginning of the origination of political parties in the Egyptian society is due to the political organizations that were formed with the increase of foreign interference in the affairs of Egypt, and the defeat of the "Urabi Revolution" that resulted in the British occupation in 1882, and this helped in the emergence of the national role of the parties In its beginning, and there were many partisan roles in every other historical stage, especially after The return of partisan life during the era of President Sadat, to the social role, which is the most prominent role that appeared on the party work scene now, and the national role is one of the continuous roles of parties, but it was under different names in every period.
