Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify aspects of reading difficulties for primary school students from the point of view of male and female teachers in Jeddah city.

The sample consisted of (86) male and female teachers at the primary stage, (29) male and 57 female teachers.

The researcher used the descriptive method to determine the manifestations of reading difficulties through the study tool (questionnaire) prepared by (Al-Zaidi, 2010).

The results of the study indicated that, the appearances related to spelling came first with the highest arithmetic average of (2.34), while appearances related to reading came in the last rank with an arithmetic average of (2.27), and the mean of the difficulties of reading as a whole was (2.29).

The results also showed that, the most prominent manifestations of the difficulties in the reading axis among primary school pupils from the teachers' point of view are "reading slowly" with an average score of (2.55), and the most prominent manifestations in the axis of spelling were "weak ability to distinguish between nun and tin" and with an average score of (2.48).

As the results of the study showed there were statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) due to the effect of the participant description, in the interest of teachers, and the presence of statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) attributed to the effect of years of service, and also found that there were no statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) is attributed to the effect of the educational qualification.

It is recommended to prepare treatment programs that contribute to improving the level of reading and treating the symptoms of reading difficulties, considering what the study's findings indicated.
