Abstract EN

This Study aims at introducing the most prominent obstacles preventing the employment of deaf and hearing-impaired persons in the private sector from the perspective of employers in Buraydah city, and unveiling employers' different views on obstacles preventing the employment of deaf and hearing-impaired persons in the private sector, depending on variables (academic qualification, years of experience, enterprise activity type & gender).

The sample includes 301 employers and recruiters in Buraydah city, of which 153 males and 148 females, who are chosen by simple randomness.

The Study adopts descriptive survey methodology, whereas the two researchers use questionnaire as a tool for collecting data.

The questionnaire is composed of 29 phrases across three pivots.

The first pivot measures individual-related obstacles.

The second pivot measures family-related obstacles, and the third pivot measures community-related obstacles (labor community including recruiters, colleagues and customers).

Ultimately, the study concludes that individualrelated obstacles are the most common, followed by family-related obstacles, and then community-related obstacles (labor community including recruiters, colleagues and customers).

Furthermore, the study shows the lack of any statistical differences between the responses of sample members on the obstacles preventing deaf and hearing-impaired persons from employment in the private sector, which are attributed to the academic qualification, activity type and gender.

However, there are statistical differences, which are attributed to the variable of experience years, where the less experienced category (5 years and lesser) demonstrated more obstacles than the other categories.
