Abstract EN

This study came under the title of the impact of press laws on professional performance, a descriptive and analytical study applied to a sample of Sudanese journalists in the period (January 2019- December 2021).

And the role of the ruling political regimes in this, by focusing on the Press and Publications Law of 2009, and the importance of this study stems from the fact that it sheds light on the most important factors affecting professional performance, and seeks to reveal the extent to which the 2009 law keeps pace with the reality of actual practice to benefit from that in the stages of drafting laws.

The study used the descriptive analytical method, and the problem of the study was represented in the opinions formed about the press law of 2009 and the controversy it raised before and after its approval.

Security in accordance with the law of the agency, and it was recently subject to a draft amendment.

The questionnaire was used to collect information about the study sample, which included (90) interviewees from journalists.

It was analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program, the most important of which were: One of the most important factors affecting performance is that the Sudanese press laws have an impact on the professional performance of the press.

The actual journalistic practice despite the freedoms it allowed, and that it absorbed the political dimension more than the “professional” issues, especially the “tribal censorship” that was imposed on the newspapers, due to the intersection between what was stated in it with the provisions of the (Security and Emergency) Law and it reflected “negatively” on the performance of journalists, as The study confirmed that the professional performance of the press is affected "negatively or positively" by the extent of the journalist's commitment to ethical conventions.

Promote and develop the professional performance of journalists in particular and the press in general.
