Abstract EN

This study aimed at revealing the symbolic significations and artistic expressive values of Meroetic gods in ancient inscriptions, and acknowledging the natural, cultural and religious factors that affected the characterization of gods in Meroetic art, and designated the relation between symbols, religious tendencies, and society.

The study followed the historical and analytic comparative method; the researcher depended upon observation to describe the sample of the study, which consisted of three sculptural works of different objects.

The study concluded that every god is characterized in symbolic expression that illustrates the mythology of its existence, and that art is a tool for human satisfaction in many fields, weather in living or in work or in practicing religious rituals, where the Meroetic artist succeeded in portraying the life of Meroetic society through symbolic style.
