Abstract EN

This paper aims to address the types of make-up and its materials used by the Nuba Al-Kawalib group in South Kordofan State.

The researcher used the analytical method in all stages of the research, and also used the open interview with a purposive research sample consisting of ten individuals belonging to the Al-Qawalib group.

In addition to the information that was available from the open interviews with the research sample, and from previous studies, the researcher explored the life styles of the Nuba group, and got acquainted with their geographical environment, their rituals, customs, traditions, their social occasions and the seasons of their celebrations.

The researcher concluded that the Nuba Al Kawalib group possesses a unique make-up from local raw materials and uses it in several occasions and rituals, including: Wrestling, Kembla Dance, Pukhsa, Kesi, Kranj and Death Dances, in addition to the Rituals of Kjur, Hunting and Women.

The Kawalib use make-up that is produced from local colors, the most important of which are: lime earth, red earth, ashes, some plant seeds and bee honey.

The Nuba Kawalib use some local materials of leather and feathers in decorations and accessories.The researcher accounts for the importance of raising awareness among playwrights in general and makeup professionals, of the culture of the Kawalib, including their seasons, rituals, their make-up, costumes, decorations, and accessories.
