Abstract EN

The study addresses one of the most important demographic phenomena in the Gulf Statesʼ societies especially in Kuwait, which is illegal immigration.

It has been expanding since the discovery of oil in the early 1950s.

One of the most common cases is the Bedoon (stateless).

They are approximately 110,000 individuals, according to the official statistics.

It consists of two segments; those who are illegal immigrants and own nationalities and passports.

They represent 63.8 % of the Bedoon.

The other segment are the real Bedoon who do not have documents proving their citizenship to another state.

The government made efforts in the past years to solve this issue but with all of the free services and social welfare presented to them.

However, due to the unstable social and economic situations of this segment, negative reflections on social security in Kuwait became visible.

The study indicated a clear increase in the crime rates for this segment comparing with other Arabs and non-Arab groups in Kuwait.

Furthermore, their issue adds to their current status the negative effect of their status on the general stability, social cohesion, and social cultural identity on Kuwaiti society, which are considered the basis of the social security in Kuwait.

Kuwait has been criticized by many international organizations of human rights, because of the misunderstanding of the existence and the growth of this phenomena.

The government made tremendous efforts to solve this problem by nationalizing the real Bedoon and the otherʼs whom manipulated their status, took advantages of the government benefits, and smeared the reputation of the country in line with the national interest of the country.
