Summary: Algeria has worked to upgrade the political status of women, in line with its international obligations, Through its inclusion and consecration in its internal legislation, on top of which is the constitutions, especially the Constitution of 1996, and the amendments that followed, it reflected positively on the level of political participation of women, on top of which is the constitutional amendment in 2008, which stipulated the expansion of women's representation in elected councils, in compliance with the provisions of international conventions, On top of it: CEDAW (1979), by strengthening the status of "positive discrimination" expressed in Law 12-03, in implementation of the rule of the supremacy of international law over domestic law.

However, the actual practice of women's political participation, at this level, revealed some deficiencies that, in our estimation, need to be addressed in the future.
