Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the attitudes of faculty members at An-Najah national university towards the employment of social media in education, and it tried to reveal the achievement motivation among them.

moreover, it aimed to test the relationship between the attitudes towards the employment of social media in education and achievement motivation.

the study also examined the effects of gender (male and female), number of electronic courses taught by the faculty member, experience, level of proficiency in the use of computer, and specialization in the attitudes towards employment social media in the education and in the achievement motivation.

a sample consisted of (97) faculty members at An-Najah national university.

an electronic questionnaire was designed to collect data.

therefore, the sample of the study was the faculty members who were able to reach the electronic link of the questionnaire and the indicators of the validity and reliability were checked.

a 5-point Likert-type scale was used to correct the instruments, and the results indicated that the attitudes towards the employment of social media in education was positive with a mean of (3.63) and standard deviation (0.73).

the level of achievement motivation was high with a mean of (4.16) and standard deviation (0.49).

the results showed that the gender and the number of e-courses affect the attitudes towards the employment of social media in education; where male faculty members had more positive attitudes than female faculty members.

it was also found that the greater the number of electronic courses taught by the faculty member, the higher positive attitudes towards the employment of social media in education.

the variables of experience, level of proficiency in the use of computer, and specialization did not affect the attitudes towards employment of social media in education.

the correlation coefficient between attitudes towards the employment of social media in education and achievement motivation (r = 0.38, α <0.01).

the achievement motivation would predict (13%) of the variations in the attitudes towards the employment of social media in education, and therefore the study recommends the need to modify some policies to support the employment of the means of social communication in the educational process of the faculty members at An-Najah National University.
