Abstract EN

This study aimed to present the effectiveness of teaching science subject via the integrative program of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (stem) to the development of model design skills and scientific attitudes among high school students in Jordan.

the researcher applied the quasi- experimental design that suits the nature of study in the second semester of 2018 / 2019, the sample of the study comprised approximately 60 students from the first grade of secondary scientific stream, and were selected randomly and distributed in two sections: the controlled group which contained 30 students and were taught adopting the typical approach and the experimental group which consisted of 30 students and were taught through stem program.

to achieve the purpose of the study, the researchers used two measurements: the skills of model designs and the scientific trends.

both reliability and validity were profoundly considered for the purpose of this study, post to applying the study tools and administering the data analysis, the results showed the effectiveness of teaching science through the integrative program of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (stem) to the development of model design skills and scientific trends among high school students in Jordan.

the results have also showed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group who studied via stem educational approach mainly in the scientific trends scale.

based on these results, the study recommended the need to prepare training programs for teachers of geology on stem approach and to incorporate stem approach in the geology teachers' guidance book for the secondary cycle.
