Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the coping strategies and it’s their relationship to reducing psychological burnout among parents of children with autism spectrum disorders in Amman.

sample of the study consisted of (80) parents of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder enrolled in special education centers in the capital Amman during the first semester of the academic year 2018/2019.

to achieve the objectives of the study was used a coping strategies scale, and the psychological burnout scale.

validity and reliability for both scales were obtained.

the results showed that the strategy of coping with the parents of children with autism spectrum disorder is a strategy to solve the problem in stressful situations, followed by the strategy of avoidance in stressful situations, while the strategy of self-regulation to control stressful situations are the least common, and that the level of psychological burnout was high .

the results showed a statistically significant correlation between the degree of coping strategies and the total degree of psychological burnout and its three dimensions among parents of children with autism spectrum disorders.

the study was carried out by a number of recommendations, the most important of which was a study examining the relationship between coping strategies and psychological burnout on other environments in Jordanian society and on different segments of the parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, and to compare their results with the ones reported in the current study.
