Abstract EN

Based on the principles that dominated the relations between followers of Islam and Christianity during the time of Andalus, this study will explore the possibility of constructing mutual-respect-based relations between the followers of different religions by highlighting the historical events where the mutual contribution and understanding manifested.

This study shows that peaceful coexistence between followers of different religions could be achieved when the parties work to build mutual trust rather than deconstructing it, when they become clash-averse and when they respect each other.

To demonstrate that, the study has been divided into three sections.

In the first section, we examined the nature of relationships between the main demographic groups in Andalus with examples of these relationships in the religious and social levels.

In the second we explored the relations between Andalus Muslims an the northern Christian kingdoms which were distinguished in many occasions by the positive and friendly attributes.

The third section highlights the relations with Byzantium, Frans, Viking and Dutch which was characterized by the exchange of diplomat missions and scientific trips to Andalus.

In conclusion, this study has demonstrated that coexistence is not only possible but has actually happened between unlikely and has resulted in prosperity both in the intellectual level and the social level.
