Abstract EN

The irony is an artistic style and a pattern of expression employed by the writer for criticism, and the detection of social, intellectual or humanitarian defects.

It has been known since the ancient literature of the Romans and Greece, and the Arab heritage has a plenty of it.

It is also one of the styles of the Holy Quran, meaning the ancient Arabic rhetoric cared too much about studying it, because of its high artistic value.

This research examines the techniques of irony through its application to literary articles published in the book" AlBe'r AlMustahela" (The Impossible Well) Attempts to Overcome the Common in Culture and Society" by the Saudi writer Muhammad al-Ali (1933-).
