The use of red in Sudanese society varied, but in the passage rituals in particular, it represented a remarkable presence in the tools and clothing of these rituals, and became a sign of the passage of an important transitional period in one's life, either circumcision, marriage, or death.

this study highlighted the illustrative red signs of this type of ritual, with the aim of answering the question of why this color has prevailed in various social events in general, and in particular in transit.

the study also tried to identify the importance of its existence.

the importance of this study lies in highlighting the social role of one of the types of visual practices that are associated with the passage rituals in Sudan, and in recognizing the role of the artist and designer in benefiting from this heritage and preserving its continuity.

the study concluded that the importance of red in the practice of passage rituals in central Sudan stems from the integration of its various social, psychological and historical aspects, and that knowledge of these signs contributes to improving the ability of the designer to communicate with his community.
