This article deals with a theoretical content explaining the contribution of the so-called "urban" sociolinguistics to general sociolinguistics and proposes to highlight the contribution of Professor Thierry BULOT to this field of study, firstly, as a researcher and secondly as an engaged sociolinguist whose works demonstrate a theoretical and methodological enrichment that combines the challenges of this discipline, making the city a key word around which other concepts gravitate allowing to consider urban space as a sociolinguistic space to be redefined permanently.

Cet article porte sur un contenu théorique expliquant l’apport de la sociolinguistique dite urbaine à la sociolinguistique générale et se propose de souligner la contribution du professeur Thierry BULOT à ce champ d’étude.
Primo en tant que chercheur et secundo en tant que sociolinguiste engagé dont les travaux témoignent d’un enrichissement théorique et méthodologique conjuguant les défis que relève cette discipline faisant de la ville un mot- clé autour duquel gravitent d’autres concepts permettant de considérer l’espace urbain comme un espace sociolinguistique à redéfinir en permanence
