Abstract EN

Cognitive linguistics is one of the famous modern sciences in the field of contemporary linguistics.

It focuses on the mental activities brought about by a certain message in the speaker's and the listener's minds, and then analyses and explains the phenomenon through cognitive mechanisms.

That is why this scientific experiment got Arab and Western scientists' interest mainly ''George Laikof'' and ''Mark Johnson'' who are known for their research which serves the cognitive linguistics; it is the theory of conceptual metaphor.

The scientific passion pushed us to understand this theory and try to find its traits in our rhetorical heritage, especially in the writings of ''Abd El Kaher El Djerdjani'' who is known for his research in metaphor and its concepts.

We chose the book “AsrarElBalaghah”, as a case study.

In the light of what has been said, the following questions arise: What is cognitive linguistics? What does the theory of conceptual metaphor mean? And what are its manifestations in Abd El Kaher El Djerdjani writings?
