Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate into the historical contribution of some families in southern Morocco in the field of intellectual and literary knowledge production in the domains of literature, Sufism, and local politics.

The study revolves around the role of the Tahar al-Afrani family, originated from the village of Tankert in the region of Ifrane in the south of Morocco.

Represented by the poet Taher bin Muhammad al-Afrani, the family had interested in studying and producing interesting works of Arab poetry and prose since the fourth century AH; such intellectual literary contribution had largely helped the emergence of the literary movement in Ifrane, the Atlas al-Saghir, Therefore, the focus in this study is on the different manifestations of literary and intellectual knowledge production in Ifrane al-Atlas al-Saghir.
