Abstract EN

This study, which relied on the descriptive-analytical approach, looked into the narrative techniques of autobiography of Ihsan Abbas: (The Shepherd'sWeird).

The study concluded that the author varied these techniques drawn from the repository of his own scientific culture combining the traditional with the modern in a bid to make his autobiography distinct in such a fashion that would entice the reader and fully convey the experience to him.

These techniques were represented in division into titles, chronological hierarchy, transformation of the narrative pronoun, description, intertextuality, retrieval, anticipation, dialogue, omission, detailing, surprise, ease of language as well as the employment of other literary genres.
