Abstract EN
The research focuses on an important event in the modern history of Syria, which is the Battle of Maysaloun, that took place on July 24, 1920 between the Syrian army and the French army.
It resulted in the French army's occupation of Syria and the overthrow of the young Arab government that was formed under the leadership of Faisal bin Al Hussein after Syria came out of Ottoman rule.
This was after the Great Arab Revolt that erupted from Hijaz.
The research dealt with the events that preceded the battle and identified all the details that led to the battle, starting with the Sykes-Picot Agreement 1916, the San Remo Conference 1920, the French Mandate over Syria and the French warning to the government of Faisal bin Al Hussein, ending with the battle and its results.
