Research SummaryThis research deals with the study of the sayings of Matar bin Tahman Al-Warraq in the interpretation, and the aim of it is to collect these sayings, arrange them and study them as an explanatory study.

I followed the inductive-analytical approach, and followed a plan consisting of: a summary, an introduction, two sections, a conclusion, and indexes.

Through it, I reached several results, including: Matar Al-Warraq received knowledge from many scholars, such as Al-Hassan, Ikrimah, and Qatada, and he narrated: Shu`bah, Al-Hussain bin Waqid, Hammad bin Salama, Hammad bin Zaid, and others.

And he was following the approach of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah, and he had explanatory sayings scattered in the books of interpretation, which are attributed and not attributed, and they are not many, but they indicate his interest in interpretation, and by tracing the explanatory narratives that conveyed to us the sayings of Matar al-Warraq, we find that his sayings - mostly - are similar to the sayings of Matar al-Warraq.

His sheikhs from whom he received interpretation, such as Qatada and Al-Hasan Al-Basri, and this is an indication of his influence on them.

Also, his method of interpretation does not depart from the method of the predecessors and their general method of interpretation in terms of generality in terms of expression and lack of detail.

The expressions and methods of interpretation varied according to Matar Al-Warraq from interpretation by necessity, by example, and by part of the meaning, and other ways in which the predecessors excelled in their interpretation of the Holy Qur'an.

And as stated by Matar Al-Warraq with explanatory sayings, the books of interpretation attributed to him were replete with many of his narrations from his sheikhs, and his narrations about them came more than the interpretation mentioned by him, and this indicates that he has the character of receiving and narration.
