Abstract EN

This article studies the role of controlling maritime transport costs in promoting trade exchanges and economic growth , discusses the evolution of demands for international shipping (2016-2021) , general trends in the performance of international ports and container shipping in international freight market, and the phenomena of concentration; acquisitions and mergers between shipping companies.

The study concluded the importance of linking with global shipping networks in promoting trade exchanges, and considering the ports as a link of logistical interconnections.

These dimensions formed the general framework for studying the requirements for upgrading transit and maritime transport services in Algeria, and proposing ways to improve logistical performance, to achieve the goal of integrating the economy into the Global supply chain.
