Abstract EN

The current study aimed to unveil the relationship of emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility in predicting calculated risk-taking by gifted female students in high school stage.

It, also, aimed to identify the range of relative contribution of emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility in predicting calculated risk-taking by the gifted female students.

The primary study sample totaled 279 of the gifted female students in the high school stage.

The age of participants ranged from 15 to 18 years, with an average of 16.2 and a standard deviation of 1.33.

IQs of the participants ranged between 121 to 134 on StanfordBinet Scale, with an average of 126.44 and a standard deviation of 2.1.

The study utilized the descriptive correlational approach.

In order to achieve the objectives of the study, some tools were used: the emotional intelligence test (Othman and Rizq, 2001), cognitive flexibility test (Dennis and Vander, 2010) and calculated risktaking (adult) scale (DOPSERT) (Blais and Weber, 2006).

Results of the study indicated that there was a positive correlation between emotional intelligence in one side and cognitive flexibility and calculated risk-taking on another side.

It, also, showed that there was a relative contribution of emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility in predicting calculated risk-taking by gifted female students in the high school stage
